New Carbatec router table looks good.
A couple of months ago I spotted what was a yet-to-be-released router table in a Carbatec ad. I ended up buying one 3 weeks ago then had to wait while a collet extension got ordered but finally I got to do some routing.
The table seems level and true, the router lift works smoothly and does not creep. The fence seems to be straight and is "micrometer adjustable" but in reality there is some play in the screw adjusters but when you allow for this it works well.
The router lift comes with an adapter plate with holes for Lord knows how many machines and I found the ones for my big Makita machine without too much trouble. The lift is smooth with minimal backlash. It is chain driven and uses 4 posts to lift the router. There is a locking mechanism that stops the chain mechanism from rotating so unless the router itself moves or the bit creeps things should stay where they were put. The lift is adjusted from the top of the table and the removable handle is long enough to clear the fence even if the fence is close to the adjusting hole.
I am certain that there will be some little things that I will find that are not to my liking but my initial findings are that this was a good buy. It is heavy (I bought the large, free-standing version and then worked out that I needed a trolley to go under it so I could move the darn thing) and does not come with a remote switch for the router which was a bit of a disappointment but I am fitting a remote speed control for the router anyway so that problem is solved.
In general, it's a good thing. I am happy so far.

Do you have a link to the model you are talking about? I've been considering the cast iron top table.

Good Morning Matt,
Thanks to the excellent internet we enjoy out in the bush.....Carbatec's site is taking too long to load but there is an ad in the latest Aust. Woodworker mag, P7. I would suggest you buy the roller base they also sell, it's a "universal" sort of thing that weighs a fair bit so don't drop the box on your foot when you open it!
I went for the phenolic resin top for the router table, the cast iron would have been too heavy for me to handle. If you go for the cast top then you would either need a permanent position for the router or the wheeled base.
