    Default Cutter speeds

    Day All, Can anyone help out with a formula to calculate the periphal speed of a cutter given the rpm of the router and the dia of the cutter, nothing complicated please guys this old brain is a bit fragile.

    (diameter in mm of cutter) times rpm divided by 1000 will give you metres per minute

    I would say the radial speed of the cutting edge in metres/sec = D * 3.14 * rpm/60/1000. (D - Diameter of cutter, 3.14 = pi roughly )
    So a 1" cutter at 20000rpm would be 25.4 * 3.14 * 20000/60/1000 = 26.5 m/s
    or also 1595 m / minute or also 95.4 km/h.
