Default This will make you cry...

Went to pick up my new bandsaw today. What? This is the wrong area of the forum? Let me finish... I snapped up this bandsaw for around AUD250. The accessories that came with it are worth more. An elderly man had rented their house and he'd recently died. He had no children and the owners of the house were distant relatives. They just wanted everything gone so they could sell the place...

So anyway, I drove 450 km to pick it up. When I got there, they asked me if I was interested in two routers... I calmly said I would take a look...

This is the Elu MOF 96 E Type 2 with fine adjuster, carry case, a bunch of quality bits, two bushes and the dust extraction gear. The other is a Scheer HM 18 E. Check out the size of this monster! It retails here for just under EUR900 which is about AUD1500!

Okay...so this is where you might want to stop reading...

'Cause I pull myself together and quite casually ask: 'How much are you thinking?'

And the guy looks at me and says...

    Oh man...

Dingo, if you're reading this - don't flip out on me...

    Okay. Here it comes...

He sizes me up and says, 'I was thinking 100 for both.'

Euro of course. Translates to about 170 Aussi bucks...
I ummed and ahhed and then thought what the heck.

    'SOLD!'

    Damien,

Think you should be forbidden from posting things like this - it's just upsetting to everyone.

    That is all.

You'd better put some flowers on the old man's grave. Or at least raise a fond drink to his memory.

My dad - an avid tool collector like myself - jokingly says, 'whoever has the most tools when he dies, wins.' You can't take 'em with you, so you might as well buy quality for next generation eh?

Nice workshop too, there are a lot of tools on that back wall, I had to have a second look to make sure it wasn't a shop...

I saw someone suggested Damien give the deceased a special farewell drink.
Without being exceedingly cynical, would Damien think that it would be acceptable to give the deceased a special farewelll, but using his liver to filter the special drink first?
