Hey big shed, no its not but thanks.
Ok at the moment i've got my router mounted on my router boss. What i want to be able to do is adjust the depth of the cut in fine incruments while the unit is running via some sort of thumbwheel or rotatable handle. when i say fine incruments i'm talking about around 3-5mm max, typically -\+ 1mm.
At the moment i have to test the plunge depth with a cut then raise the router, adjust the built in depth control up or down then plunge the router again & test again etc.
Heres a pic of the machine.

I have the fine adjust knob for this router, it's just a nut welded onto some steel tube. there is a star shaped handle on the other end. The nut/ tube assembly screws onto the threaded rod on the left side of your picture (remove the existing nut first). I would not bother buying one again, find a mate who can weld one up. If I was going to make one up, I would try to get a Philips head fitting into the star shaped handle if you can, as this would let you do a fast adjust with a cordless drill.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
James

Hi,
I have been thinking about buying that router and the only reason I have not is because it does not have a fine adjuster as standard unlike the makita and Hitachi models. Anyway, DeWalt have a fine adjuster that you should be able to buy for $30 or $40. The part number is DW6966. Please see this link http://timberlinetools.com/Dewalt-DW...t%20dw6966.htm

thanks Don, yer i found that 1 a little while ago but its not available in Aus as far as i can find & they want a small fortune to post it over. Also i was reading that it doesn't have a quick release feature so makes raising & lowering it a pain in the butt. Since i want it for my Router boss a quick release is a must.
I think the 1 James made up is pretty much the same & costs a whole lot less.

Just came across this thread with the same question in mind.
James' version looks neat.
But it wouldn't be quick release would it?Cheers, Ern

No i don't think it does rsser which is a pitty, not sure how you could go about making it also quick release.

I have that DW router and adjuster. There is no quick release which is a bind. The depth adjuster can vibrate loose, giving you different cutter heights. There are available, digital gauges, similar to mikking machines available for routers.

I made one of these for my TR12 a while back. I too found that some of my cut depths varied, so I ended up screwing another nut up against the dept adjuster on the other side of the router to 'lock' it in place works a treat. It is a little more time consuming, but I am willing to sacrifice that for the fine adjustment that i get.
By the way, a dynabolt M10 nut with a lip edge makes for easy welding.
Regards,
BT

Thanks for the tip BT.
I'll look at turning one and epoxying a nut in place ... bit of a flange on it would help here too.Cheers, Ern
