Thanks Matt, yes they are quite good, and I picked up a pack of 6, 2 x3 sizes for the princely sum of $4, from the Reject shop. I generally clamping smaller pieces (for box making) and always seem to run out, so I should grab some more. they apply a decent amount of clamping pressure but its not over kill.

Almost finished, I just have to put framing underneath the table to prevent router sag, and put a pin/bolt to pin the fence. I will post more detailed pics later. I had to recut the slots as the 2 sides didn't meet exactly when closed, the left hand gate was slightly cupped outwards so wit would sit just proud of the right gate and as you ran a block across the face, it would hit the bottom left hand corner and stop the work from passing freely.The cup is now to the inside so when face bolts tightened it pulls the gate into the backboard and keeps flush with the right gate. you'll see the hose connected, 35mm vacuum hose compliments of council clean up. I am also going to make a Y connection box to draw waste away from the router head t the same time.
l also cut a piece in half then cut a rebate on each side on the table saw for featherboards and lockable stop blocks

Albeit I have been sidelined from major work (through stupidity, see other posts) but feeling completely useless and sorry for myself, I thought I would get on with things.

here are 2 feather boards and a router bit guard. Ready to cut the feathers, as I am using 18mm Ply, I have to determine the correct width of the feathers to get the right amount of flex so that 1. It adds pressure and 2. It doesn't snap. Styled from the Kreg feather boards.

You sound like me when badly incapacitated a few times over the past couple of years. Some people just can't help themselves. Please do take extra care...

While it's good that it's giving you something to do I don't know why anybody would bother to make feather boards when they're so cheap to buy. By the time you pay for the hardware for home made ones they probably cost the same or more than some bought ones. Quarter sawn solid timber is probably a better choice than ply for making feather boards.

The Ply was a $1 off cut from bunnings, the bolts were $1.10 each the knobs were a couple of dollars, and the Kreg feather boards are $36, so I'm well in front. I also like trying to make things myself. If they work, then I'll go and buy the real thing. And as for the safety boots, they are my photo shoes.
