    Default Makita 3612C design flaw

Has anyone come across a problem with the Makita 3612C router return stop? The return stop is an M10 nylon nut, attached to a plastic winder knob. The issue I have is that when the baseplate is lifted off the surface of the wood, it springs against nylon nut, which over a period of 2 months has stripped the nut, and the whole assembly now falls apart. The router itself works really well, but this appears to be a fatal flaw in the design.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has Makita resolved the problem?

I have been using the 3612C since it came on the market some years ago and have never experienced the problem you speak of

Like Tom I have used 3612 and 3612c routers for years and never had your problem. The clue to the problem is you let it spring against the nylon nut. Always let the base extend under control and then the springs will not slam the base plate through the plunge column to the nylon nut. no more problem.
