Plunge Lock in Table Mode?
Hi all
I have a Triton (TRA 001) mounted under a table, I have removed the plunge spring. I am curious, should I be using the plunge lock lever to ensure consistent cutting height?
Although I think unlikely, I have visions of the cutter moving up and down of its own volition following the hard or soft grain that it may encounter.Dave

Yes lock it. A few people have made mention of the height winding mechanism winding down under the vibration when the router is turned on. If unclamped, your bit height will gradually reduce. But even without that problem, by not clamping the height, any slop (and there is some, about 1/8") in the rack n pinion mechanism will cause the cutter to climb up and fall back down again, especially with up spiral bits. It will also cause unnecessary vibration in the router which gives a worse cut than should be achieved, much the same as you get in handheld use.
