    Question Router bits

    Hi all
Im looking at some panel door making bits for my router. I see a set on Ebay from supatoolsonline. They say these are made by"the same manufacturer that makes many of the brand-name bits and are the same quality as the very expensive "brand name" router bits". Has anyone used or bought any or are they get what you pay quality??
    All replies appreciated.

    G'day spitnchips,

I've bought a few items from supatoolsonline, and their service is good. However, they do tend to specialise in low-end products. For things like router bits, I'd be much happier going with a reasonable name brand.

I have ahd an el' cheapo bit lose a carbide edge, and I'm just glad I wasn't in the firing line

    Cheers!

I got some but have only used them on pine. So far, so good but I bought my first set of normal bits on ebay and they are what i paid for - crap.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

i gave up buying $h!t years ago, it never performs to your expectations, it wont last very long, probably wont be worth resharpening and when they disintegrate its bloody dangerous. they are not worth the potential risk of damage to a workpiece or body parts of myself and visitors to my workshop

That confirms my suspisions, thanks all for that
Well its off to Carbatec to check them out.I am thinking of CMT Ogee profile Sommerfield raised panel door set.
Does anyone know of any other suppliers over here in the west that I can go in to and have a hands on look at? Are there other brands that that are similar??
As you can tell Im a newie to the routing biz, I picked up some cheap various Carbitool profile and straight cutters a while back and put them away "just in case". I made a Kitchen cupboard and was very happy with the result. I did the doors using M & T joints with table saw and router. But looking at other doors I see the nice profiles and finish a cutter set will do. So my plan is to make new doors for the cupboard when I do the rest of the kitchen. You can have a nosey at the M&T doors in Finishing forum under Glasscoat.

    Spitnchips,

ive got a set of cmt sommerfield 3 piece kitchen set (Stile rail and raised panel) and they are without a doubt the best router bits in my extensive collection. they arent cheap, even if you are lucky enough to get them well below carbatec's price like i did, but they are worth it and should last the distance

    Hey spitnchips,

I've just noticed that there is a CMT bit set on ebay that you may be interested in, if you haven't already purchased a set.
