    Default Router Inlay Kit

    Hi,

I've been looking at some router inlaying and it seems you need to buy a router inlay kit. How do you actually attach this inlay kit to a normal plunge router, in this case a Ryobi, that doesnt seem to have any fittings on the baseplate to do this. It's a 1hp cheapish type ryobi router,

    Paul

Hi Paul, Not sure what the base plate on your router looks like. So will say buy/make (not very hard to make) a base plate that will accept the inlay kit.
Follow this link it will show how to make a sub base for the router http://www.routerforums.com/video.php

We have the Jasper Universal Base Plate this may fit out of the box, but can be easily drilled if it doesn't. Keeping the template concentric with the bit is of utmost importance, this plate comes with a centering pin to achieve this. We also have the Whiteside Brass Inlay Kit.

    Hi Paul,
No not perspect, I find that too brittle and have trouble drilling the screw holes without getting star cracks, remember you are going to have to drill a 1 3/16" hole in the middle. I just use cutting boards that you can buy at Big W or one of the cheapie stores they work great.
The attachment is one of the bases I made to use with a Mortise & Tenon Jig. The holes are where I can mount bearings, this allows me to cut dado's in the center of boards bang on every time without having to measure.

    Regards
    Harold
