Thanks Chris. That's one slick piece of machinery. Reading the PDF I notices that it's limited to 8mm. Having not ventured into the mysterious world of CNC machines (as yet)! is 8mm the limit for most spindles or just that unit?
Cheers

I have no idea TBH, I only put the videos up as examples of what has and could be done and maybe to kick start others to think a bit differently and come up with new ideas. See the spindle thread I have started.

Some of these spindles are available with ER20 collets so will take up to 1/2", both air and water cooled ones
Have a look on Ebay.

I found an adapter by Makita, RT0701 which I think is 80mm ID. USD$15. Might be useful?
I've spent days trying to figure out best router setup. Seems a lot has changed in the last 10 years and much advice on web is out of date, especially for us in Oz. Am following this thread with great interest.

I believe that Adaptor is so you can fit the router in a Shapeoko 3 CNC machine.

The days of buying a lift and a plunge router and then hanging it from the underneath of the top are dead and gone which simplifies thing enormously. The motor can be side mounted on a panel that rises and falls and that panel can hold more than one motor as well. The top then can be much thinner, removeable or hinged as required and the whole thing more user friendly.

I dont have the skill to do brakes and whatnot on programming a VFD, so it will have to be a commercial application for me.
Has anyone any experience with the AUKtools routers?
PWS has this new one rigged up to a stop button and variable speed: 1800 watt Fixed Base Router Motor w/- Remote Variable Speed Control and this is the base unit: WM1800 MkII -1800 watt Fixed Base Router Motor

Evan, the programming can be handled no issues at all but if you want to email or ring me I might have a better idea.

I would say Jessum absolutely could not care one single rats butt about the rest of the world. I have nothing but utter silence from them.
Its abundantly obvious the a cnc motor is the answer. It's strange that nobody has made an aftermarket sleeve.

The 0.9mm ally is the answer for the shims. $5 from bunnings and 5mins to make. Mine's still going strong and I've got probably 50 hours on it now.

DO NO USE A ROUTER LIFT, forget all about it
These spindles come with their own mounting bracket, that and a bit of ingenuity and lateral thinking eliminates the need for a lift and it saves a ton of money and makes the table far more user friendly. Look at the videos, the idea is there to side mount the spindle or spindles and for production work multiple spindles would be a huge advantage.CHRIS
