Default Router table extension for table saw

I have a Triton JOF001 router that I'd like to mount into an extension on my H&F SB-12 saw. With a bit of wriggling, I can extend the fence rails 200mm beyond the ends of the table wings, which will (just) accommodate the 160mm diameter of the router. There are lots of table inserts out there, but which one to choose, especially given a tight budget? If anyone has done something similar, or has any blinding insights to offer, I'd love to hear about them.

    Hi Richard

Here's what I did when I had this saw.

It was modified with a better fence and longer rails. The rails aided in supporting the router table ..

The router fence clamped to the rip fence, which kept it square and made it easier to use the mitre slot.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards from Perth

I took a slightly different approach (as I had already made a table for my router). I mounted it on castors and it simply rolls into place when needed:

The table was originally designed to be the same height as the table of the saw. The trolley is held in place by two toggle clamps:

This makes it rock solid and I can roll it away when not in use. It leaves the other end of the table saw (which also is filled by a rolling trolley) to be used as a temporary work surface. The trolley also provides a home for various bits and pieces used on the saw (blades, zero clearance, tenon jig etc)

One disadvantage of my solution is I don't get to utilise the saw fence for the router table.

Thanks Derek, that's given me some good ideas. Eg. buy better rails & fence.
I like the idea of replacing all of the existing wing, rather than trying to extend it. That is probably the mental breakthrough right there.

Prior to purchasing my Table Saw, I was using a Triton 2000 Saw Table plus Triton Router Table. I sold the saw table but kept the router top and fitted it to the new table saw. I just bolted some angle iron under the existing side table using a few homemade fittings and it was a perfect level match.

I liked this approach as I was able to keep the offset router fence that came with it and I also had the Triton Biscuit joiner and another jig that I used. It is a lot lighter than a cast table and I can easily remove if I wish. It was already set up with a Triton TRA1 router with the height winder, although I do not use that much. I do like the bit change set up with this router and not sure if that would still work as well with another table.

I was also fortunate to pick up a Triton front panel with the switch cheaply from eBay, which gave me a better on/off switch than I would have done myself, including the emergency "Off" which is great for safety reasons.

If you were interested there are lots of Triton parts on Gumtree or eBay.
Unfortunately I am travelling at the moment so no pictures.

I was lucky in that my saw already had a laminex covered extension wing so it was just rout out and drop in an insert plate. I made a fence with a dust port that clamps on to the saw fence.
The best thing about attaching to the tablesaw is you save a good bit of space.

Thanks Bauldy,I have a Triton router table top om the way from a family member, so I might be using a similar solution to yours.
The other possibility is to use the auxiliary plate that came with the router & somehow finagle that into an extension leaf.
Whatever I come up with, I'll post some pix...who knows, they may be helpful to someone else.
    Cheers,
    Dicky
