Thanks, I dont know where my thinking was at that point in the discussion.
Of course you're correct that the Jig set up requires the 20mm holes ,I have the 2 routers set with 30mm copy rings each with its own bit.
This jig came in a bit cheaper than the Parf system ,however the Parf system has a lot going for it judging by the comments I have seen.

I have been looking at the same Jig and have the same question - which router bit?
How did the test go with the two routers / two bits?

I'd recommend getting one of the bench dogs you plan to use so you can test fit whatever boring options you're thinking of using. I have an Axminster 20mm bit (https://www.axminster.co.uk/axcalibe...000?sel=951236) that I thought might do the trick, but there was far too much play between my bench dog and the holes it makes.

I ended up with the parf guide system, and the fit is tighter than a camel's 4rse in a sandstorm.

I have ordered some AusDog aluminium bench dogs.

I have seen / watched the parf guide videos and read many good reviews (have not seen any bad ones).

The jig system appears to be quick and easy, and I was expecting the jig system to be a lot cheaper, but all the components (jig, router guide bush, router bit or router bits) may only be $50 or $60 dollars less than purchasing the parf guide system from Carbatec.

Could you not just pre-drill with a 13mm+ drill bit in the centre and then plunge using a 1/2" pattern bit to complete the 20mm hole?

edit: never mind, didnt realise that the system uses a copy ring, making the template holes larger than 20mm. Seems like either really good design or an oversight. Although really good design would have included the 20mm bit in the kit.

Samo, the Parf kit comes with a 20mm carbide drill bit. One doesn't use a router.

I'll re-read the entire thread to see if it hasn't already been answered, but there is a maker of a template system where you can use a router with a copy ring. Its nowhere near as sub-micron-accurate as the Parf, but it will certainly work.....

I think there was one for sale here on the forum not so long ago.....

Worst case, one could get a CNC firm, or mate, to make up a MDF template for you. The only hazzard would be to ensure the copy ring is sized absolutely bang-on so you dont get just-to-small or smidgeon-to-big holes.
