Default sharpen spiral carbide router bit

I have a few of Aldavs spiral up cut carbide bits. They are pretty amazing.

Today I just routed 960 dados through panels of 6mm MDF, each was 350mm long. That's 336 metres on just one bit (plus I'm buggered!!!)

I didn't notice it getting blunt at the end either, which is mind boggling.

Does anyone know, for when I need it, if anyone in Oz offers a service of sharpening spiral carbides?

i found quite a few in the US, but none here. The US services offer a turnaround service for $9, they all say it reduces bit size by 0.01" which is quite OK.

As a side question for those with CNC machines, when do you know to replace the bit?

We use Carbitool and Leuco for spirals, but it's debatable whether a 6mm is worth the cost to sharpen. Our 20mm spirals cost about $45 per sharpen, but they're $800 tools.

Replace when they burn or leave a furry finish, you won't notice it on MDF much but on timber it's easy to tell.
