    Hi Malb,

No, you are not barking up any tree and I appreciate you taking the time to mention safety issues on the forum.

The router is new out of the box and that was how the lead was coiled. I switched it on briefly twice to test it before I disposed of the packaging....

The lead would not be set that way when I finally get to fire it up.....

Most of my routing at the moment is done with the Triton TRA001set in the table.

    James

James, thanx for the pix. Am off later to the hardware to get me a dust cover. Am sure tho that I'll probably have to make my own.

Would you guys reckon that a 12mm thick aluminum plate as a base is overkill? I can get that thickness for free - thinner and I'll have to fork quite a few bucks.

    Default 12mm thick aluminum plate

I don't believe you will have any problem with a 12mm plate except that you would lose some bit height.

I believe the commercial plates are around 9mm.

Some of the members have probably made their tables and plates from aluminum so you are sure to get more good advice.
