Track Bits??
Just wondering, has anyone seen these router bits for sale here in Oz.
SWMBO wants some track for the little butcher and I know of a couple of mates that are after the bits as well. The bit in particular is the bit "A" for cutting the male connectors. Any help appreciated!Have a nice day - Cheers

Not here in Oz.
Was looking for these myself a while back. Found them at mlcs woodworking (you've probably seem them but just in case)

Would love to know if you find them here.

I've noticed the mlcs bits look to have the same part numbers and catalogue look to the mcjing (http://www.mcjing.com.au) catalogue.
I suspect that they both come from the same factory in Asia somewhere.
Although they don't list those train track parts, might be worth asking if they can get them in as a special order.

I had noticed that MLCS had the bits, as do PriceCutter in the US. I never noticed the similarity between MLCS and McJing and have sent them an email. If anyone else wnats these bits PM me and maybe we can get enough interest to convince someone to get some in?

I'm guessing that you have looked at the US based sites that have plans & notes on making your own track, tables, trains & carriages etc? One of them said he started using a wooden ball on a dowel instead of the original integral shaped locking tab as it didn't break off as readily.

I have thoroughly read the US sites that talk about making these tracks. I suppose I would just like to to the connectors this way as it is more original. Also the connectors on the Brio track are 11mm dia and I am yet to find wooden balls that diameter, but I may have to resort to that if I can't get my hands on these bits.

I have made my own track and some for friends but the connectors are a pain. I have cut the track slots with a standard cutter and then used sandpaper to knock the corners off the slots so that they don't splinter. I did the female connectors by drilling the hole and then using a fine saw to open the slot. The male connectors I cut with a coping saw, swear words and a file to square off the peg bit that matches the female slot.

Follow up here. I just got an email from Mcjing and they are now stocking the router bits for the train track.
The 4 piece set is $99 + p&h.
It is now a stock item and should be on the website by the weekend if you want a look first.Have a nice day - Cheers

If the bits are for the train track, wasn't there a posting on 'how to do it' a while back? I'm sure I thought... I should print that stuff.

Just got the final word from Mcjing. The track bits are $99 for the four bits and the order code is TTB4. The size is apparently the same as the MLCS bits with a 1/2" shank. Piccy attached
