Bugger!!! Ordered the last one available (full kit with plunge base) this morning & just got a message to say it has been damaged so they can't supply it so will refund my money. I gather from his message, in very bad Chinglish, that they will get more at some stage, but don't know when.
I'm sure I saw the plunge bases by themselves on ebay for around $45, but buggered if I can find them now . I don't think i've got much use for the angle base that is in the full kit, so thought I might just get the basic router & plunge base seperately. If anyone can find the plunge bases on ebay, please let me know.

I didn’t realise they made end cut, plunge bits that small. The only end cuts I could find in their catalogue are all 1/2” shank and the smallest 10mm diam..

can a small diameter router bit cut a slot deep enough for a domino tenon?
the small straight bits I own typically have a cutting depth that is less than 8 mm.

Ian, the little carbitool has a 11.1mm flute length. The 4mm dominos are 20mm, so 10mm per side. The two 4mm spirals I've looked at (timbecon and carbitech) do 12.7 and 14.3mm, so sound like a better bet all around.

The next domino size up is 6mm x 40mm. Closest spiral I can find is a 6.35mm (1/4inch)

    No 5 mm dominos (5 x 19 x 30 mm) in Australia ?

Someone (Bosch, Festool, et al) should make a 6 mm spiral cutter -- but it might require a 6 mm collet. (6mm collets are common in Europe)

Have you looked at the option of machining a collet adaptor that accepts Festool OEM cutters?

Wonder whether this collet will fit a Makita trim router? - is says RTO700

6mm spiral bits look relatively common in Google searches.

two additional possible sources for Makita collets
    https://3dtek.xyz/products/makita-collets#
    and
    Elaire Corporation

The last one might be worth following up as a a set of appropriate collets would allow you to use CNC cutters in a conventional router

I’ve ordered a 6mm spiral upcut bit and 6mm collet adaptor from adams_bits on fleabay, so we’ll see how that turns out.

His blurb says he uses these in his CNC with a Makita trim router, so it looks like it should work.

Are these problems with the plunge base or the actual router body?

From the photo the issue appears to be the plunge base. The router bushing is skewed or not seated correctly squarely.

A large number of these routers have been purchased by members of the UK forum, and the feedback is that the router (as a trimmer) is very reliable.

What is the router like without the plunge base? I have not been tempted to purchase one as I view the trimmer as a light fixed-base machine that may be used in one hand. I have an Elu MOF96 if I need a small plunge router.

    Regards from Perth

Does the gap change as you rotate the spindle and bit or does the gap stay the same on the same side?
If it’s changing as you rotate the spindle then it’s spindle runout. If the these gap stays the same on the same side as it rotates then it’s not centrally mounted.

The template guide is a problem? The fixed base only version doesn't look like it comes with one. With that offset does the body shudder violently when turned on?

With center pin guide It shudders, the bit is dancing in the hole.

The plunge base is not tight.

The gap change when it rotates and it magically makes the hole boigger than the bit lol!
