Default What are You Trying to Do?

    Good Morning Richard

You have me intrigued. You need a small bottom bearer straight cut router bit to cut into end grain using a trim router?

    What are you making?

Perhaps a bit of lateral thinking is in order?

it’s to follow an acrylic template for radial finger joints. It’s difficult to explain but with my current template it won’t allow me to turn anything less than 65mm diameter. But with a smaller router bit I can take it a lot further down to 45mm.

Now I am even more intrigued, Richard, as I am not familiar with the radial finger joint.

Is it a variation on the Japanese sunrise dovetail, or something else?

Perhaps a photo or drawing might help?

Thanks, Richard; I am not a turner so I had not come across this before.

We learn - I like the mallet - almost too pretty to use!

Amana make straight cutter router bits down to 3/16" (~4.76 mm) and with a 1/4" shaft.

And there are smaller ones available to fit dremels.

PS. This was about a min after I put a mineral oil finish on and hadn’t soaked in yet. It’s going to be hitting wood or a domed metal head of a chisel so it’s going to get bruised more than massively damaged. And I won’t be doing ‘clobber time’ with it.
