Default triton router and template guide

what's the trick to changing bits without removing the template guide each time ?

i haven't tried removing the plastic shroud, perhaps thats the answer ???

Failing that, what's brand of router used in the leigh jig videos ?

    thanks
    Tony

Porter Cable - Great routers not available any more in Australia since Black and Decker bought them. Really bad news because they are really good. I love mine and would like another.

    thanks for the reply(s) Pusser
sure looks easy to change bits and adjust height
I'll have to see if i can get one from the states while the exchange rate is so good - well i would do if they used the same voltage as us grrr

If you go to the leigh jigs website, select video an select the D4R it is grey and definately a Porter Cable.

Theire may be other videos but I can only check but my DVD and the site videos

Mik used to do demos with the porter cable when they were available. They use Festool now or did at the Canberra Show. It is also a Porter Cable on the othe other videos I checked though I did not check them all.

If you are looking at buying a router specifically for the Leigh jig consider the festool with the horizontal handgrip especially if you dont have the VRS You can also get an 8mm collet to make life easy for the Leigh 8mm shanked bits.

Leigh do use this router for a lot of their demos.

Having said look at the festool my setup works well

Makita 3612 with standard leigh collet reducer and using the VRS.

I would ask your initial question in the triton section of the forum. I guess your question equally relates to all guidebush uses.

Perhaps you have discovered the one drawback of the triton router.

it is a pain changing bits with the template guide fitted to the triton

i'll take off the plastic shroud and see if I can get to the collet chuck area anbd somehow lock it in place, if not I may have to swap for makita or something similar, damn

OR i could just get another router, one for straight and the other for dovie bits,
would work well if i get a gifkins down the track

hmm, i think i just sold myself on the additional router idea heh heh heh, I really DON'T want to part with the Triton

"hey honeybunch, i need to exercise the plastic on the weekend ... "

    thanks for the replies

    cheers
