    Default Using MDF templates

I have a 9mm MDF template that I will use a trimming bit to cut some 3mm ply using the router mounted in a table. The piece will be roughly cut to size and finished with the router.

Part of the template is only 4" across and it's 6ft long. If possible I don't want to have to reposition clamps during the cut.

Whats the best method of attaching the template to the wood? I don't want holes in the ply as the finish will be clear so screws and pins are out.

Am I better not using the table?

    Thanks,

    Tor

Double sided Carpet tape. Works a treat.

Yup my vote is for double sided tape too. The 3M tape is awesome, sticks like the proverbial sh*t to the blanket in fact it can be hard to separate afterward. Its also more expensive than the cheaper gear. I keep rolls of both in my shed & generally use the cheap tape unless its on a piece that i need to really hold fast then its the 3M for me.

3rd vote for double sided carpet tape. the stuff i've used sticks like mad so I actually have to use it sparingly so i can remove my template and use it again

    Cheers,

and to remove it ( I may want to use the template again) I would squirt in a little acetone or shellite to help the glue dissolve? (being very careful not to work in candle light )

Sounds like a fine idea, thanks,

Just push a thin bladed knife between the two and twist it.
