Default Variable spaced dovetails with the Gifkins

Can you make variable spaced dovetails with the Gifkins by only cutting out every other tail and then cut more pin material to make it fit? Difficult to do?

    Thanks

    Hi Steve,

There is a kit you can get for variable spacing on the gifkins jig but you could probably make your own given they are simply are shim. Picture here.

Thanks Howdy. I was aware of those shims. I am talking about leaving every other pin and tail out, to make the joint more attractive. However, I was thinking that this is what the enhanced templates do. So the question is actually answered.

I would think the Gifkins jig is pretty popular over there.

    Thanks

They sure are steve , I guess mainly because the jig works each and every time and is quick and easy to use, it has its limitations but is ideal for what it is designed to do , I believe that one of the reasons it isn't as well known in the states is that very few U.S. publications will do articles on tools from other countries that compete with us brands unless they are made there.

Actually the Gifkins jig was reviewed in Fine Woodworking and got the "readers choice" and was rated by far the most user friendly.

I wish I could get a franchise over here and sell them.
