Bosch GEX 125 AVE ROS - anybody here use one?
Hi, I have one of these sanders and it's great, what's not so great is trying to find the adapter that screws onto the back port for a vacuum hose. For the love of god Bosch - why make it so freaking HARD to find this adapter?!
Has anyone been successful in navigating the bowels of the bosch website(s) and decrypting their part number labyrinth to find the right fitting part for this sander?
I have found 2 possible candidates after trips to my local hardware store and international routing 0800 numbers and one failed recommendation (from bosch) and supply of an incorrect adapter - they sent one of those elliptical shaped ones. I mean come on - how hard can it be!
I have found what I think is the american equivalent of my sander - the ROS65VC-5 - it look exactly the same, with same dust canister etc and they supply (yes SUPPLY - bosch NZ) the adapter VAC024.
Another number our international call centre people gave us is 160 939 0474, I have found this on eBay/amazon etc (for child ransom prices) but still doesn't list my gex sander as a parent.
Hoping someone who has been down this rabbit hole before me can confirm the correct adapter for a GEX 125 AVE professional sander?
Many thanks

I've had multiple sessions with the Bosch website and Bosch Australia themselves looking for a vacuum port adaptor for my GEX 125 AVE.
The first phone to Bosch Spares told me it was a 2600306007 which I ordered through Bunnings. It arrived and NO it doesn't fit. it has an oval shaped entrance and clips that suits the GEX 150 AC.
After seeing you post I had another session with Bosch Spare Parts Australia this morning
Tried to sell me another 2600306007 insisting that it was correct for my sander and inferred I didn't know squat. So I told him to look at the two pictures and compare dust outlets. He said "Their different but my computer says it suits all GEX Models - but it can't, looking at the pictures!"
I then asked about VAC 024 that is on Bosch US website but not on Bosch AU website. Bosch AU have no record of the part number or item.
When asked why, the answer was " if you read the manual, there is a disclaimer that states that not all accessories are available in all parts of the world and we don't keep this one."
When I asked could they order it in the answer was "NO"
When I asked what could I buy that would work I was told item 2600793009 which is a complete hose assembly! Do they have it in stock? "No. It's not a standard accessory for Australia BUT WE CAN ORDER IT IN!!"
!!
There is another adaptor on the AU website 1600499005, but it lists GEX150AC amongst other models so I'm not willing to spend more on what will probably be a shelf ornament.
Back to my existing bundled together adaptor that kinda works.

Yes it's incredibly frustrating isn't it? They make some really good gear but their spare parts systems lets them down. I would dearly love to speak to a Bosch rep but all the calls are routed to an offshore call centre where they don't know their **** from their elbow. They are the ones that sent me the oval shaped fitting as well "because thats what the computer said fits the GEX 125 AVE" well no Einstein it clearly doesn't fit.
We've rolled the dice here again and have ordered a "160 939 0474", mind you it's a "special order" and will take 4-6 weeks. They assure me it's only 6 bucks + GST though so I thought it was worth a shot.
It look's similar to the VAC024 that I see listed all over the US bosch sites.
This is a pic of it.

Just measured the outlet spigot on the sander. The OD is 28mm and the ID is 21mm.
The VAC024 mentions Vacuum hose Adaptor 19mm Port to 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" hoses
The 2600793009 hose recommended states "suction hose 19mm by 3M"
The 1609390474 you mention has listed sizes of 49/35/19mm.
So - what will actually fit the spigot on the sander? I did see a YouTube clip with a hose being fitted to the sander but still trying to find the part number. Will keep searching.
BTW, some Aust. Tool sites state "Direct access to vacuum cleaner hose without an adaptor".Last edited by Lappa; 12th April 2016 at 05:18 PM. Reason: Additional info

Looks like a job for a bit of rubber hose from the auto store to me, ie. radiator, heater hose. Might not be pretty, but I bet it would work, and think of the years of extra life it would add to your heart!

I have a little Bosch dust extractor/vacuum thingy that has a few adaptors in it, I'll see what they measure out to be........?
Maybe the air hose in the kit fits straight on which may explain- "Direct access to vacuum cleaner hose without an adaptor"
The only Bosch tool I have that can use an extractor is a jigsaw but it will soon be replaced by something that stays set at 90 degrees instead of going wherever it wants to.

The nozzle on my vac goes straight onto my Bosch 125 ROS but it is I suspect an industrial cleaner for commercial use in offices etc. One thing that is handy about it is the ROS plugs into the cleaner and triggers the vacuum when I use it. It is a Godfrey's own brand I suspect as I bought it from there.

I generally solve most of my power tool dust extractor connection problems with one of these.

As I mentioned earlier, I have my vacuum hose connected to my GEX using a cobbled up connection and hose clamps.
I think the real problem with this setup is the hose itself which is very inflexible. I have checked a number of places for aftermarket hose in long lengths and it's all the same. Does anyone have a source of very flexible 35mm vac. hose?
My real beef with this setup is BOSCH itself. Why do they sell fittings/accessories in some parts of the world but not in others? Their power tools are the same, all be it with a slightly different 10 digit part number (mainly to do with country of manufacture and country of sale - so they told me) and in some cases a totally different general name ev. ROS --- instead of GEX ----
Anyways, if I can source some very flexible vac hose, I'll be a happy woodworker
Cheers Peter

Perhaps it's time to quit buying from Bosch and buy from those that have the accessories and support in abundance. Won't help those like yourself that have them but anyone contemplating new tools taking their dollars elsewhere would have an impact. Can you adapt a hose from another brand?

That doesn't solve the problem of going from the small 19mm ID of the power tool to the larger 35/38mm of the vacuum hose. It also is cumbersome when switching vac hose between many tools. But thanks anyway. I of course had thought of rubber hose and duct tape but want the proper fitting for the above reasons.

Just watched a UK video and watched them attach Bosch dust collector. The adaptor has a thread like internal surface to match the exterior surface of the spigot on the ROS.
Ordered a VAC024 from Amazon as I'm 99% sure that's the adaptor. I'll report back when it arrives - about 2 weeks.

That's all that came with my vac but they wouldn't be any good as they clip on to the Bosch hose which I'd assume was a proprietary fitting?
Neither fitting is threaded.
EDIT, not sure why the pic is sideways, was normal on my computer.
