About 30 years ago we bought some 4" Ag hose to use at work in the acid purification section of our clean air labs.
The main reason we bought it was because it was cheap and we knew that being made of HDPE would be impervious to acid attack but unfortunately found it was pretty restrictive air flow
When we tried to really force some air through it the noise was horrendous. a sort of whistle/whining around that grated on everyones nerves.
I think it was because the stuff we had used square corrugations.
In the end it was removed and replaced with PVC hose which was much less retractive and quieter.

Yes I built a small collector to use with the shop vac and used the ag hose from bunnings. Made a noise like a bum note on an organ. OK if it was actually sucking shavings but soon as it got clear air the noise was very irksome. Was half expecting a ''what tha ---- was that'' from the neighbours.
Regards
John
