Carbatec dust separation lid
I am looking for a cheap and simple dust separator to go between a bandsaw and a small 1hp dust extractor, and saw the Carbatec Dust separation lid here
Can anyone please advise on the readily available container this fits , and where you can get them?regards,

Hey JillB,
The description on the CT site says a drum of 115-125 litre, check out the closest fuel depot, or mechanics workshop, you might find one, I made my own from a Chain Drum from the Chandlery Shop at work, I posted it in the Dust Extraction section a couple of months back, here's some pics.

Thanks for the quick response and photos, HazzaB.
I was looking for something more like a small standard garbage bin from Bunnies.
Does the CT lid clip on, or rely on suction?regards,

Have a look in the yellow pages for drum merchants. The Carba tec lid fits a 200Lt drum. (I paid $35 for reconditioned drum & lid with clamp last time I bought one)
To make the lid more effective attach a piece of 90mm storm water pipe with an elbow on the underside of the intake side of the lid.
Works well as a separator

Hi Jill, I bought a 118lt bin from Bunnies and it just sat on top with the suction. Ended up making the flower pot separator instead as the lid did not sepatate any of my cuttings from a router. However my neighbour has one for his bandsaw and it stops the bigger chunks hitting the impeller of his dusty.
Cheers
Brian

Thanks for this information, Brian.
What is a flower pot separator, and did it prevent anything from the router going to the dusty?regards,
