I would like too, but Im going to be scratching for funds as it is...
Im going with a set up close to what I already have, Im "gunna" have my 2 3Hp fan units blowing into a common sealed chamber outside of the shed with my 2 PFC's as the outlet. Depending on what aircon system I go with(evap or refridge)will determin wether I vent in or outside.
The main line is getting upped to 8"(possibly 10"), with 6" to the machines.

Be interesting to know what the stats are on ducting larger than 6". Your builders coming back on site soon ?

Yep he has been back, its finished and locked up

Its hard to rate what air flow a pipe can give without knowing the static pressure.
I think 8" should be ok in my application of 2x 3hp fans, I need to work out how long the main run will be.

That's a pretty schmick setup there!

I like the fact that the cyclone is clear for the 'oooh' factor

Mind you, your awning is comfortable bigger than my entire shed, so dunno where I'd fit the thing!

6" pipe would be a huge improvement over 4" - The area difference of the pipe goes from about 12.5 sq.in to about 28.3 sq.in. Youve then got very different dynamics with the resistance from the pipe sides, etc. Just gotta fit 6" pipes in though!

    cheers,
    Dave

lovely look forward to seeing how you set it up Harry.

Thanks Dave. Feeling quite spoilt at the moment. never had so much space before. feels strange not tripping overmyself all the time.

Jake the new shed looks awesome, missed this thread. You must be stiked with how it has turned out, lots of light and space by the looks of it. Love your SCMS setup, am looking at doing something similar to get rid of the constant mess.

ta mate. its coming along. got a pool hose from k-mart the other day, to fit the scms dust port. fits nice over the pvc too. one less thing. lucky on that one I thought. no pipe clamps or special hose needed.

and yesterday I rigged a string system to all my machines to turn the dust extractor on, so I don't have to walk about to the switch. looks a bit odd. got a big nut hanging off each string for weight. seems to work ok.

    nice setup indeed!
it's given me some extra ideas for my mitre saw.
the Festool vac does'nt catch about 25% of the sawdust.
i've got a 2HP dust extractor with 4" hose. i might make a similar catchment like yours Jake!

Nice one Jake! I like the box around the SCMS

You can improve the performance of the catcher above the lathe by adding horizontal and vertically mounted flaps or barn doors as they are called in the lighting business. They will also reduce the numbers of chips flying behind the lathe.

    Cheers

ta. I got that idea from the clearvue site. Here's a picture I pinched from the photo gallery thingo.

Mines got that little hose coming onto the machine now too. But he seems to have a second under table pickup as well. I haven't bothered with the wire yet.

sounds like a good idea. ta. Have to try and work that in somehow.

here's a couple of photos of the string system. (yes, I forgot to put chook wire under the insulation. I've never built one of these sheds before)....got 2 pull switches installed. One down around the tablesaw, jointer thicknesser. But the other ones not in the best spot......so I've got string running through eyes to the scms and lathe, cause I only seem to remember to turn DE on when I'm actually making chips.
