Default CV Cyclone Low Ceiling Installation

I was ratting through old computer files as it is too hot out in the shed and found these pictures of one person's answer to a low ceiling installation for a Clearvue. I think I may have put at least one of these shots up before but to make sure I am doing it now and tagging the post for easier searching in the future.

Chris how much would that lower the installation? I doesn't look like it would be a lot.

It look like it's a bit less than the height of the motor so maybe 300mm?

Well since the motor and impeller would normally sit on top of the cyclone and the PVC pipe looks like it is about the same height as the motor, I think all that would be gained would be the thickness of the impeller housing so maybe 200mm. If there is wall space laying the cyclone and motor on a 45 degree angle would lower it by about half a metre. The cyclone will still work the same if placed on an angle.

Pete, I wonder if it is any advantage at all to tell the truth, by modifying and custom building the bin more could be gained easier. The only reason I put it here is that others should be able to see it and me keeping it on my computer doesn't help to do that. I suppose it is just another choice if faced with a low ceiling installation and someone must have asked me about it at one time for me to have the pictures but I don't recall it.

The other issue is that on a BP cyclone the orientation of the impeller and the air flow in the cyclone are important in providing an efficient rotational transfer of the moving air from the cyclone to the impeller. Adding 2 x 90º bend and a length of pipe is going to muck up that efficient transfer - by how much is hard to say but its got to be worth something.
