I actually sealed the top and bottom bags on my DC with some weather seal between the bags and the housing. Difference was like night and day, really cut down on the leaks.

This information is excellent. Thanks all. To cut down on noise outside the shed, i'm thinking about mounting the DC inside the shed, with PVC pipe joining to a (relatively) sound proofed, ventilated box containing the filters. Do you think this set up would work? Additionally, does the length of tubing between DC and filters matter? Id be using 6" i think.

And why would you leave the noise from the motor and impeller inside the shed unless you were going to sound proof that as well?
This can lead to complications as the motor will need cooling air available to it.
Seeing as you have to build a noise reduction structure outside it's just easier to build one structure and put whole DC inside that.

There was a thread in this forum by Ian Dobson who went around, and around, and around, with this issue till it drove him (and some of us) mad.
    Moving the DC outside
Read it right through to the bitter end to see what he did.

Its not hard to make a sufficiently sound proof to appease your neighbours.

This is the main reason to make sure the DC is vented or located outside a shed.
Looks very similar to mine. My plastic collection bags, sold by CT to fit the FM-300, have an open end circumference about 10 cm larger than the mounting circle on the DC. Practically this means the bag needs to be folded back on itself in at least one place to take up the slack, and it guarantees to leak there and elsewhere from rucking.

A leaking DC was my prime motivator for moving it outside recently. Freeing up some floor space and lowering the shed noise level were bonus benefits.
