Looking good. I get the high cost of ducting. They have the chemicals from the oil all around here and the prices are almost as bad as yours.

I have a side question though. In post 7, the second picture. What is that thing on the side of the bottom rafter chord?

Humm . . . . . we used that on some of the mens shed gates and found that it did not play all that well with PVC and after a few months some of the glued up joints snapped.
Maybe we didn't prep the surfaces well enough combined with the fact that some of the mens shed blokes are known for their RTUH (rougher than usual handling)

Will just have to see how it goes. I did ask the question about gluing pvc and MDF and PU was one option given. The flanges are really tight on the stubs and should hold with nothing.

That is a twisted vine I found in the bush. It is up there drying (about 5 years now) Going to make a walking/hiking stick out of it hopefully!

Bandsaw1.jpgWorking on getting my new bandsaw hooked up to DC.
Opened up the so called 4" opening to take a 4" bell mouth housing.
Question for the brains trust. Will it make any difference when I open up the top outlet under the table if I have it at 90 deg with a BMH compared to the 45deg existing one?

A big problem with that outlet ( I assume it's the one marked "A" in the photo) is that it's are often well choked - I have it connected as is and have a 3rd one outside ether cabinet up under the table Like this

Note the grille added into the side of the door to assist breathing.
In terms of dust collection my BS is probably the least well done machine in my shed and I need to do something about it.

Yes, 'A' is the one I was refering to. I could just fit a hose to the outlet as is or fit a BMH straight out.
I will be fitting another hose similar to yours under the table. What size is the mesh on that vent?

    It's 150 x 200 mm with ~5mm holes.
would go for bigger holes if you can find it but it was all I had at the time.
Have since got some beaut SS 1" Mesh which I have been meaning to use in its place.

My bandsaw has two lower doors. The smaller one does not have an interconnect to the start switch. I can just leave it open a bit till I get some vent mesh.

Would have been a bit earlier than 70's looking at your age! I was married in the early 70's.
My daughter now lives in Cashmere.

Finaly got the last bit of duct to connect to my bandsaw. It is in a leanto next to the shed (temporarily?) The joiner is a 90 deg bend that I cut the side off and fitted to the existing duct.

Here is where it comes into the leanto and connects to the bandsaw. I have another 4" spare to make an 'under the top' connection.

Nice work Flintlock, it'll be great having that BS fully connected. Very creative with the branch above the lean to. How the heck is it staying there?

I've just got the one 5" hose onto the cabinet for now, which seems to work well, but I aim to do same as yours when I get remotivated.
