Bob I know it was a long post but....
"However being in the several hundred thousand dollar range puts it out of reach of most casual wood workers."
It would get there if you include the building, machines and land it is on. Otherwise I think you
    meant several thousand dollars. Right?

It won't open for me. What I do in Safari (mac), is left click on the address, then right click on it, select copy, then paste it. Don't know if it does the same in windows.

I think he means this one.
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIP-01954...-/182337984045

The impeller on this DC looks the same as a generic 2HP DC, but even it it has a 3HP motor on it, it won't draw much more than than the 2HP version.
The motors on most generic DCs all turn at the same speed at all times. If something blocks teh flow the impeller fan just cavities - turns in its own air.

Provided a motor can turn the fan to begin with without overheating (this will happened if too large an impeller is driven with too small motor), if the same size impeller is used there little benefit obtained in using a more powerful motor.

If you are going to purchase a 3HP DC then try to find one that has a 6" inlet - or can have the 4" inlets easily removed to reveal a " inlet. The generic 2HP design does not have a 6" inlet and needs to be modified to accept 6" ducting.

Give the claimed CFM is nonsense then the following does not surprise me.
If the photo truly represents the product then it's a basic 2HP designed DC so it won't be 150 mm. The generic 2HP design has a 113 mm opening with a cross hair grille on the opening. This limits the flow through that opening to about 560 CFM without any ducting.

Motor will be quieter than a motor that uses brushes but it's not usually the motor that makes the noise, its the impeller, Expect between low and high eighties dB at 1m from the source. They always sounds louder in a shed because of reflections.
