There are obvious advantages with using metal in a range hood extraction system. I used it for venting my range hood, but no experience of using it in my workshop.

Looking at the internal spiral ridges, they are not as deep as the flexi hose I used in the workshop, but they are more angular. I'm not sure what the difference in drag/turbulence there would be from that.

The aluminium would certainly be more prone to dings. I'm also unsure how readily it would take to being regularly repositioned, which I do with some of my flexi hose.

If I came across a free bit of it I would certainly give it go.

I saw that stuff when I was looking for heat resistant flexy for my metal dust catcher.
However, as Neil refers to, it's not likely to recover too well from dings so instead I went for the mylar foil version.

Because the mylar stuff is relatively floppy the flow is not that flash and definitely worse than regular flexy so the stiffer Al flex should be better for flow, but the fact that it could be permanently crushed even in a minor bingle is the main reason I'm not using it.
