Home Shop-Vac - a simple version
Hello Team: This could be the cheapest Vac system.
Some years ago, Machinery House had a sale, with a small planer thicknesser price that was too good to ignore. Bought, with a metre and a half of hose for the outlet.
A Vacuum system then became a priority, but good used were rare and expensive. Applied a some thought to building up a system which had the required air-flow rate.
Reality? I realised my Bunnings OZITO could fit the bill.
A RAAF background helped with the design, and Bunnings for most of the plastic garden pipe bits: a 400mm section of 100mm dia. drain pipe, with an end fitting, then a connector to suit my diameter hose to fit into the end fitting.
The 100mm dia. pipe could house the Ozito hexagonal blower outlet, with the wheel frame removed, and wide sticky tape to seal, then aligned the hose with the chamber attached to the Ozito.
It worked a treat, the bag filled in 15 or so minutes, and everything had to be turned off to cool down anyway. I used it to plane down thin sheets of WRC, the dust from which is possibly toxic....
Open air and Undercover is necessary. Hope this helps? Thanks, DaffyBriq

Sounds feasible to me!
I'd be a tad concerned about the overheating, but if it allows for extraction of the machine - which couldn't run reliably otherwise - then why not?
Just don't delude yourself that it is a Dust Collector... at best it's a Chip Collector, which is a different kettle of fish.
