After much ringing around and pricing, the flexible ducting arrived today. I got 2m of 125mm, just in case
IMG_0294.jpg
and got a super deal on 8 m of 160mm as it was the end of a large roll. Glad I got 160mm - nice snug fit without being a struggle to fit.

Starting to look like a system
The 160 mm looks like the ClearView stuff.

Tip 3.5.44
To reduce resistance, instead of using the corrugated flexy itself as the 90º bend, it's better to install a PVC bend and then hang the flex from that.
Even a 45º bend will help.
I realise it might get in the way sometimes, but when connecting flexy I usually try to orient the side arm of the Y downwards so that automatically gives you 45 so then another 45 fitting completes the turn.

Filters
When I carried out the db readings I commented on the differences with the collection bag on and off. I also noticed a big difference in flow rate when I first checked flow with a short pipe fitted to the impellor with the bag off and the end of the manifold on the finished product with the bag on. Obviously there would be a difference but I felt it was too much so I suspected the pleated filter may be blocked. I had some bits coming from Hare and Forbes so I ordered a needle felt bag as it was cheap and if the pleated filter was unserviceable, at least I had a filter.
Wooowwww!! I forgot to take a picture but when I removed the pleated filter it was almost solid lower down between the pleats with dust and fine shavings. I fitted the needlefelt filter to the dusty and turned the system on. I know the needle felt filter is not conditioned yet, but Woooooowwwww the difference in flow at the end of the manifold was incredible.
Got to work on the filter with a brush and vacuum and a low pressure air source and nearly filled a bag with dust and shavings. Lots of brushing, blowing, vacuuming and the filter looks great - can actually shine a light through it now.
My guess is that the rotary brush unit in the filter must have not been used very often. I had rotated it numerous time and it looked like the brushes had cleaned the ends but not dislodged the dust further down.
I'll put the filter back on after a Christmas after fitting a low positive pressure gauge between the pump and filter to see the difference between the needle felt and pleated filter.

Almost there!! Just waiting on an adaptor for the router table. Once I have that I can build the "collection point" on the table.
Blast gates installed

Table saw hooked up. What a difference!!

Seems to work well - one small dead spot in the front RH corner about 100mm square. Looking at angling an intake port into that area.
Also building a number of mock-up dust pickups and guards for the saw blade. Once I have the design right, I'll build one out of perspex.

Put this hood together today. Still have to mount it properly but it works extremely well with the test cuts I did Made it large so it will suit a bigger blade if I upgrade.

Saw blade shroud up and running. Crude maybe, but boy is it functional!! Great to have a clean saw table. Black plastic hose is too stiff, waiting for some flexy to arrive next week. Need to add a spring at the back and a couple of wheels maybe but it can be used as is.

Bloody hell. Couldn't the majority of that vac hose be converted to 50mm PVC? I acknowledge that it's still a work in progress. You could then use the vac hose to water the lawn from the washing machine. I can see that saw blade dust hood design being copied and refined over the coming years - looks great.

Thanks Aldav. Had the 50mm flexy lying around for a couple of years from the previous dust system. Needed to be flexible then, as the table saw and router table kept getting moved around.
New system has been costly so trying to use what I had lying around

Here's the video you asked for BobL. First section is saw only, then saw and extraction together, then extraction turned off and saw only.
