Joining 4" pipe to 100mm ports
A quick noob question.
When you want to join a 4" PVC pipe on to a 100mm dust port is there a spacer that you can get to act as filler (you need to go from 100mm to about 104mm for nice fit) or is it a matter of just building up the dust port with tape to act as a filler?

Many so called 100 mm ducts are not even that so they cannot even take advantage of the greater air flow in the bigger pipe.
Tape is one way to do - another way is to take a short (50 mm long) cylinder of 104 mm PVC and cut a narrow length wise piece out of it and use that to pack the hole. If you smooth teh edges of the cut you can glue the cut edges together with PVC cement but I usually just jam it all in there.
Remember all this shrinks the size of the hole and reduces the flow - it might not seem like much but it all adds up
The best thing to do is to cut the so called 100 mm port out of the machine and replace it with a PVC floor drain flange or one made of MDF that will accept the PVC ducting as a male fitting - this maximises the flow. Better still convert the so called 100 mm port to an inverse Bell Mouth hood.

Excellent thanks Bob.
It's a new machine at this point so I don't wish to cut yet.
I am also doing a temp thing at this point.
