Looking for Recommendations.

Hi all

My wife has decided to take up woodworking and we have built her a workshop out of a room that is attached to our internal access garage.

The room measures 4.4m x 3.6m x 2.4m with access to two exterior walls.

The tools that we have in there are:

Carbatec BS-345H 14" Bandsaw (100MM Port)
Carbatec JN-150C 6" Jointer (100MM Port)
Carbatec SS-400C 16" Scroll Saw (63mm Port, currently necked down to 50mm)
Carbatec BDS-1523 6" Belt / 9" Disc Sander ( 2 x 100MM Ports)
Jet JBOS-5 Benchtop Spindle Sander (50mm Port)

I was looking at a 2HP / Single bag DC from either CarbaTec or Toolshed but based on my reading tonight that maybe a mistake.

We will probably only be using a single tool at a time or maybe worst case the jointer and scroll saw together.

Can anyone recommend a solution that will provide for good dust extraction, handle the jointer and also not break the bank?

There's no single, budget level, off the shelf dust collection gizmo I can point to for good dust extraction but there are a series of steps that will incrementally improve things as you do them. Some are simple and some are hard

The most important one is to locate, or enclose and vent, whatever DC you use outside?
Next most important is to improve ventilation using "forced" ventilation. one bathroom fan is better than none, and 2 are better than one etc, the target to aim for is 20 room changes per hour.
A vac that is also located or vented outside may work better on hand help power tools.
Modify the dust collector to utilitise 150 mm ducting.
Open up machinery ports to utilise the 150 mm ducting
Use machinery outside when you can.
Setup a room air filter
Wear a mask.

I am pricing up a CV1800, but I am thinking that shipping to NZ might push it well out of the price range.

I am seeing the DC-7 on Machinery House for a great price, they are claiming 2300CFM for 10A which after reading this forum I find it hard to credit. My question is will the DC-7 come close to 1300CFM at the tool when converted to 152mm?

It's not easy to get 1300 CFM at the tool with 6" ducting since the most you can get with 6" ducting is about 1250 CFM
You don't need 1300 cfm at the tool on those machines you mentioned anyway.
About 800 CFM should be all that is needed for those small machines which given your size shed a DC7 should easily deliver.

When you start opening up the outlets on your machines, (See Improving machine cabinet dust ports) I have the formers made for the bell mouth housings for both 4" and 6" pipe. I can make them for you, to save you making formers etc.
