PVC is cheaper & easier for a DIY home job.

There is some debate about static build up causing sparks & explosions but Mythbusters couldn't get it to happen.

I have a mix of both, not sure if one is better than the other from a flow point, both are smooth so would think they should be similar, metal should be better at dissapting static (as long as it is grounded) but by all accounts it is hard to get an explosion/fire in a DC system.

    I call Myth.
Lots off stories, but when people are pushed for evidence there is no first hand accounts that I have come across.

We had over 40m of PVC ducting with no grounding wire in our shop for 4 years. We created a 44gal drum of waste per day. Lots off static. No exploding super fine dust fire balls.
