I bought one about 12 months ago, just the Dust Deputy without the plastic buckets. Price was (I think) $69
I made a box out of MDF, about 300mm square and 600mm high.

It does work but not any better than just the vacuum cleaner (Shop Vac) by itself.

It does save on vac bags and I don't have to empty out the DD container all that often.

Crowie, I have the ClearVue version. I find it really good for using with hand held and bench top power tools. Mainly the big ROS, the linisher and the spindle sander. The fine dust clogs up the vacuum really quickly but with the ClearVue in line the vacuum barely sees any dust. Helps to stop the sand paper from clogging too.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

I have one. It is absolutely fantastic.

What I really love is the ease of cleaning and the size. Cleaning out a vac every now and then is a hassle. With the dust deputy you can see if it's full and swap to the next bucket very quickly.

I don't have a big shop and having one of those giant cyclones and a v8 driven impeller isn't an option for me, so while BobL would have no love for it, it works very well for me.

The vac is a Festool CT33 which has plenty of oomf for the work I do... Vacuuming, ROS, my table saw and a frankenstein bandsaw dust system (I spired by another members setup)

The "no love" only applies to when folks connect these to dust extractors because they restrict the flow too much on these systems.
I'm not "in love" with them for vacuum cleaners, not because I don't like them, but because I don't like vacuum cleaners.
But if the oneida saves a few $ on dust bags then that has to be a good thing.

I meant those words with respect, for in many respects the deputy is only small and the wisdom youve imparted could fill a book. I've followed and read your enormous posts, even printed a few, so the day the loot-fairy gives me a few extra bucks I'll build one of your big designs outside (shed too small for internal)

I was going to ask the same thing and was searching for a thread of similar title.

i was looking at doing an import from the states for a large steel super deputy.

Cost from Carba-tech is $636, cost from Oneida $239. (not to mention the smaller dust deputies are only $39..... May even consider the plastic super deputy to save a bit more on cost (considering freight will be weight)

anyone interested in doing a group bulk buy to save on freight.

reason i am going larger is to set it up outside and run 5" pipe throughout the shed with endcaps to facilitate multiple hook up locations depending on which tool i am using.

Thank you thus far for the replies.
    Here's some research I've done.

Oneida-air said that currently we do not ship out of the United States on single or small orders. However, if you have a ship location in the United States we will be happy to ship this order there.

Woodcraft are asking US$89.99 for the Dust Deputy, BUT SHIPPING is USPS Express Mail, 3 - 7 business days, traceable, US$113
USPS Priority Mail, 10 to 30 business days, US$88.

Carbatec have the Dust Deputy Kit on special for A$189.00 plus shipping.

Rockler have a similar product called a ''Dust Right'' at US$69.99 with this review on LumberJocks

Woodwhisper suggests that the Dust Deputy is the better of 3 it tested..
Cyclone Separator Comparison and Review | The Wood Whisperer

Question: Can you still buy Clearview Mini in Australia as I remember on the forum that the Australian distributor was selling out??

I am mainly wanting to have this sort of unit to run on my thicknesser & jointer out front of my shed as the shed area is small under the house.
I don't have room for a [PROPER] DUST COLLECTOR, if I did I'd buy and install one.

Once again, thank you all for the continued discussion and comments.
    Cheers, crowie

You could always just get the Dust Deputy DIY kit for $85 and add your own buckets.
Two plastic buckets and a length of flexible host must cost less than $100.

I made a wooden box from 12mm ply with dust deputy on top. Box Sam height as dust duputy.. Works a treat. Used on sand blaster with equal success. Great on sanding or sawing with festool vac.

The bucket idea was a dud as bucket imploded. Too much suction

    Hope this helps,

    Carbatec very helpful. Postage OK.

    Regards

    Ron
