Plastic bag for dust extractor
Anyone ever use these bags from this bag company before:
https://www.pinpak.com.au/poly-bags-...ress-bags.html
Looking to use it on my old carbatec dust extractor - it looks exactly like this one:
https://www.timbecon.com.au/extracti...dust-extractor
If suitable, anyone in Melbourne wanna split? Buy 5 cartons are $65 each, each carton has 50 bags. (carbatec ones are $34 for 10)

Before buying I would contact them to find out what thickness the plastic is just to make sure it isn't thin lightweight stuff.

I reuse my DC bags by regularly transferring the contents into HD "bin liner" bags or similar. I think I'm still on my third DC bag after 5 years or so of fairly constant hobby use. Only reason to replace is when I accidently damage the bag or it starts to show signs of significant wear & tear. So far no blow outs.
Even Office Works offers a cheap alternative to contain the dust etc after transferring the contents. It only has to last to collection day.

Oops. I’m used to seeing thickness for plastic in mils. 100um is about 4 mils which is a little heavier than the 3 mil heavy duty contractor trash bags I use for shop garbage. I couldn’t find a thickness for DC bags on a couple sites here except for one of theirs being 6 mil thick. The 100um bags are probably fine and cheap enough to toss every time.

100 microns is 0.1mm
DC bags can be reused provided your DC is outside the shed. It depends what sort of sawdust you produce - if its mainly from sanding then its finer and will leak more easily through bag rucks etc. If its chips they will eventual abrade tiny pinpricks in the bags. Even a new bag can develop a pinprick hole in it within minutes of use. I bought 10 bags when I first bought my DC some 7 years ago and have only used 2 bags in that time, one was torn getting it out of the DC enclosure and one I gave away when I gave away with the sawdust inside it. Usually I just tip the sawdust into the green bin. There are two bags so I do it over successive weeks.

I just assume the DC is inside unless the poster says otherwise and in this case in those quantities they are 26 cents a bag. The contractor bags I mentioned are 65 cents a toss.

The bags that came with my Carbatech DC are 150 microns. I think 100 micron are used on the 2HP DCs and will be OK if the DC is outside.

I just put green wheelie bin bags inside the clear DC bag. Then when it fills up I just pull out the green bag and reuse the outer bag. I’m still on my original bag after (?) years. One problem is it is not easy to see if the bag is full, but you can tell by feeling how full the bag is. Changing bags is no more fiddly than a single bag because I keep them in place with bits of tape while fitting them. But the big advantage (other than saving bags) is I can throw out a full bag without dust going everywhere.

Where did you get them? I got some black ones from bunnings and they are VERY thin. I ripped one just opening it up. ATM it is inside the cloth bag which came with the DC (which happens to be the same cloth material the filter is made out of - it doesnt looks like filter material just a cloth bag)

Yes, the bags I use are thin (probably "heavy duty" ones from the Reject Shop or Aldi).
But the strength is supplied by the thick outer bag, it doesn't matter that the inner bag is thin.
There is a risk of the inner bag breaking when you pull it out, depending on whether or not you've sucked sharp chips through the impeller. But still less messy than emptying the bag into a bin.

Can one get clear disposable bags to place inside the clear heavy duty bags? It seems to defeat the purpose of a clear HD bag otherwise, that is, to be able to monitor when/if it is filling up (if mine begins to fill, it is because the cannister from the Super Dust Deputy is full, and the SDD cannot direct waste to it. The HD bag would fill quickly if I do not empty the SDD cannister.
Better still, has anyone made a replacement for the bags in the form of a way to re-direct dust/waste from the DC to a plastic or steel drum? (my DC is inside the garage).

you guys have money to burn? I have never bought any plastic bag for my dusty, I dump the waste in the wheelie bins and people come and pay for them or give away for free when I am pressed for space.
