If you read the sticky on the "generic 2HP DC" you will see how its done. For the motor to hang from below the existing opening in the filter bag housing cannot be used and a new opening has to be opened up on the other side of the housing. The sticky also explains why this needs to be done.

You could of course just lift and bolt the motor/impeller up to the existing flange on the filter bag housing with the motor sticking out the side like it is now - however, this will make it quite unstable.

Come to think of it the whole idea of lifting up the motor and attaching it to the filter bag housing on the generic 2HP DCs was because most used 5" flexy between the impeller and filter bag housing, so the idea was to open up the transition to at least the same size of the opening in the impeller.

Given your DC does not use flexy and the ducting between the impeller and filter bag housing is already maxed out to the same size as the impeller exis I would leave it as if. The gain from lifting up the impeller/motor will be small compared to the improvement obtained by opening up the impeller entrance. I think I just saved you a hell of a lot of work.

Do you ever get tired of the repetitive questions that you seem to go over and over ?

    resurrection time.....

I know it was mentioned but have a look at this.

Yes Bob did mention there would be very little benefit but Iam a d**khead at times for punishment.

measurements of motor outlet.... outside of flange....175mm x 205mm inside of motor flange 160mm x 115mm
    ' dust bag holder... " " 175mm x 205mm " dust bag flange 155mm x 120mm

so senario... I mount the motor vertically as shown on a very sturdy metal frame, take the bag holder to a sheet metal worker mate and get him to open the flange up. the bolt both together. This way I have eliminated a bend (sort of) have the motor inlet up higher and more accessible.

I found it's easier to make an adapter flange - it can be made of MDF and a bit of junior high school geometry.
