Default My Very Sloooow Clear Vue Max Install

I have made a slow start on my installation, unfortunately circumstances have slowed down my installation time.

As I have a new Stratco shed, relatively new, it is on the flimsy side, they don't make them like they used to. So when it came time to mounting the motor assembly I thought of a stand alone frame out of structural pine. It didn't turn out how I liked and I dicked around trying to find a solution. Then I thought if I used the centre upright of the shed and doubled up the main back board, so it is 1 1/2 inch ply instead of 3/4 inch, that would suffice. After I made up the frame and mounted it, it still had a lot of movement due to the flimsy "C" section. I had a heap of "I" beams lying around the yard from a retaining wall project and I thought "bugger it", I may as well over engineer than under engineer.

It is now rock solid and I reakon I could mount a Sherman Tank up there, the "I" beams don't really take up too much room as there has to be a 44 gal drum under there anyway. It is nice to know that motor and impeller whizzing around above my head is secure.

Tried to mount the motor and impeller together but it was a bit heavy for this old bugger, so I had to remove the impeller to get the motor assembly up there. No 1 son was supposed to come around and give me a hand but alas, true love has him busy doing other stuff.

Talking about mounting impellers, if you read this Steve, any chance you could send me the correct key for the motor shaft? I was going to stick with the ground down one but I would rather the proper one.20131013_184029.jpg20131013_184040.jpg20131013_184049.jpg20131013_184112.jpg
Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

It is so good to know that I am not alone. There are others with a tendency to over-engineer, but with those I beams, Ric goes to the top of the class.

What is it about first born sons these days? Had a similar issue with mine, but he did make it over to help lift the motor and impeller into place.

Don't know if I mentioned this to you before, but check out Total Eden for your ductwork ... much cheaper than plumbing supplies, by about 40%.

Default Some ideas for installing a CV

I've been lurking for a while, about 1.5 years since I bought my CV from Chris Parks. Finally getting it running really soon.

Some ideas for anyone thinking about it:

    1. I used the rivet style rack shelving to make the frame for the CV (you need about 2.7m high racking - I had 2.4m and then improvised the rest) - I will brace the frame using melamine sheeting (which will double as sound reducing material) and bolt it to my wood/MDF storage rack for extra security.

    2. The hard part was lifting the motor and fan up to the top. I did this by laying everything horizontal (and firmly secured together) and using a 2 pulley and rope rig to hoist the whole thing up.

    3. I managed to get the motor high enough to get a chemical drum underneath it, and still have room below my 3m tall workshop roof

    4. Now it's assembled I can raise and lift the whole CV assembly with ease on my own.. the trick was to use a hydraulic trolley table (cheap chinese sort), and fit the cyclone into the chemical drum .. works a treat when fine tuning!

Woot! 1.5 years? pressure is off me now, I thought I was the only one taking my time. I found the secret to getting the motor up there was to have a huge ladder that was taller than the ledge, that way you could "walk" it up resting it on the rungs as you go and then sort of slide it over to the mounting position. It is very hard if you have to lift above your head!

It will be in the post today. I am so sorry I thought I had found all the kits that were missing this. If anyone else out there needs one let me know
