spindle sander dust extraction
Hi Folks,
Just bought myself a spindle sander, a little cheapy from Leda.
Couple of weeks ago I was reading a thread from MandJ where he had modified his sander, and improved the dust extraction,
thereby providing the inspiration for me to set up good extraction for my own machine.
My set up is different in that I have mounted my extraction points on the back edge of the table, rather than up and through the table itself( table was too small).
In any case it works exceptionally well, I believe because the spindle its self moves relatively slowly, compared to a saw or router, and I only have a couple of metres of ducting between my dusty inlet and the extraction points.I thought to post this for anyone considering one of these machines,or if you already have one and want to rig up extraction that will pull all the fine dust.20170602_172424.jpg
Cheers,

Bet it's nice to be able to walk up and do some serious sanding without having to clean up afterwards, I now use mine all the time instead of avoiding it as before. I'm extremely sensitive to most wood dust and I don't have the slightest issue with the bobbin sander now, how sensitive? I'm in trouble if I make the mistake of picking up a used piece of sandpaper without a mask, as dust rises with body heat I'll have a reaction in seconds.

Sure is mate. I gave up woodworking as a hobby for a few years because of the dust,no particularly bad reactions, I was just sick to death of being covered in dust and shavings every time I built something at home. You and the other guys on the forum have been a great help in getting back into it.
Cheers.
