    Default Triton scroll saw help

    yes obsolete but
thought it better here than Triton page and scrollers page

was shifting SWMBO's Triton scroll saw that has sat in same place for 4 years + and yea gawds the dust underneath it.

So... my thinking is dismantle it cut holes/slots somewhere and put a bell mouth dust extraction pipe under the holes/slots then hooked up to the dusty system.

But how do I dismantle it? any ideas.... will this even work?

please dont shoot me..its her's not mine, I am just trying to keep the shed tidy.

Hi Tony, a vacuum cleaner under the blade area, should be more than sufficient to keep the dust under control. That's all that most Scrollsaws use.

Kryn, while a vacuum cleaner might work, the way she hammers this thing Id prefer something stronger.
Trying to place a bell mouth under is also not going to work. The pipework would eliminate a drawer and part of cupboard space. For my sanity she needs that storage, (for those whose partners are of the artistic type will know what I mean)....so.
    option X...

I have removed the 'belly' of this thing and see the possibility of carving a hole in the rear metal (looks cast fragile stuff) and modifying the plastic, sticking a hose part way along. The sfirst looks up at where the blade works.

thoughts, ideas, (apart from locking me away) and suggestions...welcome

We have Helen Harris in this town and she cuts virtually all day, and only has a vacuum cleaner under it to keep the saw clean. If SWMBO is creating that much dust that a DE is required, I'm wondering how she's doing it?????
There's usually a plastic box that flips out of the way when changing blades, that has a small spout that a vacuum is connected too, which collects nearly all the dust.

theres a who? what? now Kryn you may have solved it easier than I thought.....hang on heading out to shed now.......well Iam back, sorry to keep you waiting well I'll be bugge...err no I wont. I never realised that, so with a small piece of PVC pipe heat it up fit over the square outlet and connect to vacuum...shh dont tell BobL we know his thoughts on them.

Hi Tony, did you get the Scrollsaw new or S/H???? Any chance of a pic of tha area please, just to make sure we're on the same page.
To make it easier to form the square to round, if you were to make a block of the finished size required, and have it tapered to the round, slip the pipe over and warm it till it starts to form the shape required. Leave it on the block to cool and should then be a simple matter of connecting it to the underside of the saw.

HI Tony I clicked thanks for the pic, but forgot to leave a comment!!!!!!!!!!
Being a S/H unit, it would appear that the actual housing has gone. It should be just off to the right of the squarish shaped housing, where the sawdust is sitting. Shouldn't be too hard to make something to fit in there. Don't make it an enclosed box, as vacuum requires other air being able to mix with the sawdust. Tried to find something in Tritons spare parts but nothing was showing. A bit of PVC that just goes over the Vac nozzle and held in place with a bolt or similar would be all that's required.
