Hi Arnie, congratulations on all of your work. I’ve been living in a bubble for the last few months and obviously haven’t been reading enough forums (fora?) but I have almost exactly the same design for both 150mm and 100mm ductwork already in service. 2 other members of the forum also now have all of the plug-and-play components being trialled to fully automate almost any current DC system and any brand of DC. The basic system opens the gates relevant to any machine, checks that the DC is on, checks the dust level IN the DC and closes the gates after the machine has been turned off. It will be very economic with, for example, the bespoke printed circuit boards being produced for for only a few dollars each! Another plus for their design is that the ‘trigger’ relates to the power point NOT the machine and, in that way, any machine plugged into that power point will activate the relevant gate. In my case, I have 5 different machines mounted on castors that I move to the single power outlet and DC inlet. I don’t need to fit a trigger to each machine as it is already fitted to the power outlet.

Hi again Arnie,
I started with the same design concept ( and ‘brand’ of LA!), but including the top “lugs” as suggested by Bob. I determined the lever lengths by sketching 1:1 on plywood, made the prototype and then pared away all of the unnecessary
size and weight...

This is is the functional prototype 100mm gate which has now been refined, AutoCad’d and currently being laser cut.
It has been in daily use in my shed for a couple of weeks but yesterday it met up with its electronic partners in crime and is now fully automated on my disk sander. I also have the functional 150mm prototype working on my table saw. I’ll post a link.
Unfortnately SketchUp and Fusion have passed me by and it probably didn’t make sense to design it 1:1 on plywood but at least I could cut out my drawings and use them as router templates ?
Id be happy to post over some laser cut blanks if it would be of use?

Hi fletty,
that stuff is music to my ears. I'd not heard of this before so keen to find out more. Can you direct me to those designing boards/electronics?
I was inspired a couple of years ago by your dunny chain rocker control and used that before the move to the new shed. It seems like we've been on a similar path.
cheers, Arnie

The blast gate build is progressing well. Some way to go yet with the control stuff but I’m making good progress there as well.
