    Default Wood dust articles

I gave a presentation about wood dust to the March meeting of the WA Fine Woodworking Association and it has been put up as a PDF on the FWWA website as a PDF.

    See http://www.fwwa.org.au/Art005_WoodDust_c1.pdf

For those that have followed my adventures in studying wood dust on this forum there's nothing new there but some of you may wish to show this to your woodworking club or mens shed.

On the same website there is a second article on dust by FWWA member Warren Murphy who spoke after me about his new dust control setup using an industrial strength Felder system. I came on board to help Warren with his system after he had committed to the Felder unit to help him improve his setup. In this article you can see what an almost unlimited budget applied to 170 m^2 of workshop looks like.

    Warren's article is at http://www.fwwa.org.au/Art006_DustControl_c1.pdf

    Cheers

    Thanks. Both are good reads.

    Thanks Bob.

These would be a great introduction for a beginner ... before delving into Bill Pentz's detailed material. I started with Bill's stuff and was soon swimming in detail.

Thanks for these links to understandable but thorough presentations.

I agree with John these are great introductory resources and for many would be most of what you need.

thanks for a great article Bob - as a learner it has awakened me to the dangers of dust - till now regarded it as a nuisance and dirt factor rather than something more serious - shows how little I know. Opened my eyes, ta.

Yeah I find it hard to understand when I see folks spending 10's of thousands on tools and machinery and so little on PPE. A decent dust extractor system will last for many years and long term is cheap insurance against problems. I realize not everyone can put their DC outside but if you can do that it is well worthwhile.
