Made up some ebonizing stain and tried it on an extra tire so when it drys will put some finish on it and see how that works out.

Nearly there and looking really good.
Is your ebonising stain a vinegar and steelwool solution or some other concoction?

This is a steel wool & vinegar solution It worked out really well.
The flash of the camera gives it a brown look but without flash it's blacker.

I used a dark walnut Danish oil finish.
The wheels looked brown after the solution is dry but once I used the Danish oil on it it turned a very dark brown.

I made a test wheel and finished it with the solution but it had a small white spot on the side wall so sanded it out and just put the danish on it to see how this would look.

Here's a teaser all most done.

That solution certainly does have a good reaction with the Oak. Lots of contrast there now with the Danish Oil being applied.

This should be the last of it.

I hadn't planned to put a rack on top or the extra lights but I was talked into it but didn't take a lot of time with it either.
So here's a quick how2 and then the last pictures.
Hope this whole How2 project pictures has been of help to some one.
