    Default The Scraper

The Scraper is a Toys & Joys pattern.
Most of the cutting has been done as can be seen in this pile of bits & pieces.
I still have much shaping & sanding to do before the assembly can start.
I will post more as the project progresses.
    Cheers Jim.

Bob, the chopper is in the corner in disgrace, it is just not turning out right but I will get back to it. Pete, thank's for the welcome back, I have a couple of hiccups so far but it should turn out reasonable, I hope.
First pic is of the half completed cab with the second grill, the first grill was not up to scratch.
Second pic is the scraper body partially complete & next is how it might look on completion.
Bob & Pete, thanks for the reply's.

    Jim,

I have never thought about cutting out all the parts first. It seems it might make the build faster. At least the assembly part. Great idea.

Not much happened today. Semi finished the cab & made the lift mechanism for scraper body. Remade the grill for the third time, poor workmanship, wrong timber choice & the third time it look's about right, but it is not shown here. This will look a lot more realistic when the wheel's are fitted. I believe I need one of those little blue critter's, it seems much more gets done when they are around. I am undecided whether I need an Australian version or the Texan variety ?

The build is looking great I am doing the same with my build and making a kit of parts, In my case I don't need a little blue fella but more like a little Fat Controller.

    Default The Scraper

With no help from any little blue critter's, we have semi assembled the scraper & given it two coat's of poly. Some ancillary part's, step's, nudge bar, stack's & steering wheel are still to be fixed. Please excuse the drop sheet, it has seen a lot of different job's. Final assembly will be in the next couple of days. I will post final pics then.I've still got to find one.Cheer's Jim.

That is really looking good, sir! Looks like fun. But I am an ignorant cuss, I don't know what the "little blue" thingy is.

    Smile Blue critter's

PLDThanks for compliment's. Re the blue critter's, if you refer to the toy making section & have a look at BJ383ss post entitled Andys toy repair & any of Crowie's recent posts it will explain everything. A little light hearted humour. If I find a spare one I will let you know.Cheer's Jim.

Oh, you mean the little blue worker... I should have known that. I had my own little guy that helped me build my crank organ. He was with it all the way.

    Default The Scraper is Finished

Firstly I would like to thank everybody who came along for the build & for the complements I have received.I think it makes for an interesting build for everybody concerned including me.The thing is about 600mm long & took about 45 hours to complete. It is finished in Wattyl polyurethane satin, two coats. The wheels are red cedar, there is some southern maple, silver ash, the cab & guard's are possibly niger. A timber I have never heard of, it was given to me by a neighbour & really nice to work with.Next project is a t/j pattern of a road grader, to be started soon.Happy Easter to everybody.Cheer's Jim
