i have painted some parts of the undercariage. as you can see on th epics my painting skills are not too great. the idea is to paint two opposite sides and leave the onder two unpainted. so i ll have to alot of paintscraping and sanding and putting a fresh coat of varnish on those.
also started assembling the coach itself
in the background you can see some of my other current projects (most are on hold though) :
golden hind : a very smal wooden ship (only about 15 cm long)
USS constitution : plastic 1/96
Queen Marie 2 : plastic
some boxes of older models on the right
i have always been someone to work on 2 or 3 projects at the same time. so now the stagecoach is my main project but when i have to wait for paint to dry or glue to set i work on some of the others

G'Day "Adrieke",
You making progress; well done.
This Stage Coach shouldn't be too difficult for someone like yourself having done those other big models.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers, crowie

i guess lots of people are interested in stage coaches
i use PVA woodglue mostly
and medium CA+ when a need quick setting or for non wooden parts
i added some scrap wood from my wooden ship project to make glueing the floor easier (honestly dont know how they expect you to glue it in properly without some support)
still was a bit of a balancing act as my 2 biggest clamps could only juts fit around it (next purchase some of those adjustable clamps i saw in the hobystore. i dry fitted the 2 top beams in between to keep the correct distance
i am praying the woodglue will hold properly.

not much progress this week
i have been workign on bending the plywood to get round the stagecoach frame
i soaked it in hot water and then bend it around and clamped then used hairdryer to dry most of the wood. waiting for its all dry too see if it stays in shape
i worked on one of the leather insides of the doors. turned out alright

Well done Adrieke,
That's very clever to bend the ply rather than a steamer.
The leather work has turned out good too.
Keep up the good work.

Wow That bent ply work. They make it hard for you dont they. There is nowhere on the corners to use clamps and that is where you would need them I would think?
Coming along great The leather work has me.How is that done please?

thanks for the comments crowie and aussie
the clamping was actualy easy as the hold on to the frame.
after this i will get it of the coach and use something to bend it further so that it actualy clamps on to the frame . that wil make it easy to glue it on and also prevents from the plywood trying to come loose afterwards as there is going to be nothing holding it but the glue.
glueing the bottom in between was actualy more difficult than this. also havent figured out yet how best to dril holes through the brass strips. i tried today using a pin vice as the 0.5 mm drill bit is to small for my rotarytool and i broke the bit
so far workign with the brass strips hasnt been easy and i am not happy with the results.
for the leather
you start by glueing some foam on a the plywood
then you wrap the leather around it compressing th efoam a smuch as you can. using some of the long nails to keep it stretched while the glue dries. pull th enails out and you have a leather seat
then for the insides of the doors and the bakcs of the seats you use the paper templates provided to know where to insert the short nails. i used a nailer to push them through th eplywood. remove all the paper around the nails and cut them off at the back and you are done

no worries aussie
Michael i found this kit at my local hobbyshop among the multitude of wooden ship kits
if you can find a store that sells the brand AL i am sure you coudl ask them to order it in. and i have seen a few of them auctioned online (all from the usa but even with postage cheaper then what i paid for it)

during the week i have been slowly glueing the plywood on to the frame. s
today i cut of the excess wood and started on veneering the inside walls. should make good progress with that as the veneering sheets are 30mm wide. the floor is next but that wil take a bit more time as i wil need to glue 38 3x1 pieces of wood on to it.
i have also been working on the ceiling . veneered the inside and now glueing on the sides.

Nice looking kit.
Its coming along well and I like the ply bending.
Is there a website for the maker in your instructions or on the box. Searching for 'AL' in google isn't going to work to well.
Peter
Edit: Is this it
