Default Toys for Big Boys - third in the series

This is my third go at making wooden models. I previously posted a link here to show it, but that link is no longer viable. As with other posts with links, I have promised to recreate them here. Others will be posted as time becomes available. So - here is my try at a 1932 Chevy Coupe.

Thanks Dennis for posting this beautiful Chevy Coupe.
I'd love to see a WIP from yourself as the finish and detail you put into the end result is of such a high standard.
    Cheers, crowie

Very nice work, your Chev looks great.

I like the nice thin bumpers, not bulky and thick so they look very realistic. Also the grille came out particularly well. Is that alternating laminations?
The grain on the lighter timber is nice, particularly the book-matched boot (trunk) lid.

What is that lighter timber? I'm assuming the darker one is Walnut.

Pros? Beautiful finish, great alignment of the grain and perfect attention to detail. Cons? None! Well done.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

Now, to try to answer some questions ----

The woods used for the body and fenders are red oak and black walnut. I did not have a piece of wood (or timber) large enough for the trunk (boot), so I had to laminate two pieces so I thought that I might as well try to book match them.

(Notice how I am getting used to some of the "different" words you blokes use to describe things?)

The wheels are maple and black walnut.

The grill is made of 1/16" (1.58 MM) laminations - maple and black walnut. It was somewhat of a challenge to make as it angles to the right and left from the center and angles out as it goes down vertically.

Sorry, I do not have any WIP photos as I was not doing that when this model was made. I will try to do that on future models.

Red Oak - I thought it looked similar to the timber I'm working with at the moment - Tasmanian Oak. (Not a true Oak, but almost identical in appearance.)

Including the word 'blokes', I notice.

The end effect was worth the effort in my opinion - very nice.
