Casting time!
Bit of fun in the shed this weekend.
First time I have dived into epoxy resin instead of polyester. Have to say that it is much nicer to work with (less smell) but I have to do quite a few more pours before I get the magic pour time correct (I freaked out a little as I felt it getting hot and rushed a bit where I don't think I needed to)
Also forgot to hot melt the burl pieces in place so a myrtle piece floated on me *groan*. So I cut it down to work some tiny giants.
Also finally did a pencil blank. Been meaning to for ages. I know they're yesterday's news but I still think it'll be fun!!
The true test will be when I tube them up and 'pen' them
All C&C welcome
Cheers!

Some nice looking blanks there especially the worthless wood ones. Haven't tried using epoxy resin so is that a whole new learning curve for me?
Have you made up your molds from chopping boards?Dallas

Yup. Found some without the usual crosshatch pattern through it, but I can't remember where I actually bought them from....
I didn't notice a massive difference from the polyester other than lack of smell and it seems to stick much better (didn't shrink from the timber) but I won't know the full results for a week or so"All the gear and no idea"

Gab
They look fantastic really well done.
Can't wait to see the end result.
I might even look at getting one or two one day.
Just to have a play.
Cheers Matt
