    Default Guitar body top

I helped a friend do his first cast, a 500mm x 200mm x 30mm cast, cut in half and milled down to 2 book matched boards for guitar build top. Objective was green and gold with some blue near edges of the Brown Mallee burl pieces. Done in epoxy with no pressure, too big for pot, but still worked out well with only minimal bubbles. It was left in mold for a few weeks before cutting to ensure epoxy had stopped moving

That is real purty; your friend is lucky to have such a mentor.

Will the finished instrument make it onto the forums in due course?

If he doesn't, I will, assuming he sends me the photos

    Neil,

another treat by the cast master. Not stealing your thunder but How is the best way to cast when you don't have a pressure pot, or best stuff to use, resin or epoxy?

    Cheers

I'm using epoxy for this as it needs to stick together being only 10mm thick in the final product. Without pressure I start the same way as always, pouring the resin on a bandsaw table for the vibration, but we also used a heat gun to pop the bubbles and heat the resin helping reduce setting times. Trapped bubbles are always the problem.
