Default Pens to be !!

Did some casting today , only clear though for this bunch

First pictures are some stainless braid casts, the longest one is 250 mm cast in 20mm electrical pipe , these were cast this afternoon about 4 pm ready by 7 .
The picture also shows one set prepped and ready for casting tomorrow . These are pretty time consuming and fiddly but make a great pen when finished.

The other Picture is some cast at the same time ,one fernwood cut in half and predrilled for good penetration (went in the pressure pot) the others are just done standard in resin savers ,a bit of cross cut black palm I managed to turn about .040" undersize .and another english farthing (1922) on a copper painted tube , and one a laser cut patterned blank painted gold, to see how it turns out . All good fun hehe, cheers John

3 hrs What was the catalyst ratio, 5:1 instead of 50:1

Don't forget to paint the inside of the bored hole on the Fernwood before gluing in the tube .

They should all turn out well.

Cheers

Neil ! 5 mils to 250 mls (it was diggers clear cast) I used this time ,heated as normal in hot water, I think having no color or additives speeds it up a bit somehow, these were post cured about 1/2 hr then knocked out of the PVC pipe (came out easily) all good hehe, Cheers ~ John

Some years ago I bought my father a set of cufflinks made from farthings - reverse side showing with the year of his birth on them - great gift.

Have you done the same with your farthing date?
