Red gum Bark
Hi my first post has any one tried stabilizing red gum bark , I am a city dweller and have a huge red gum next to where I work, the bark can be up to 75 mm thick and 500mm long I was thinking this might make an interesting pen Blank.

Yes it can be done, although I haven't tried it. I have done Grey Ironbark bark though

Yep.
They were also cast with a dark red translucent resin too, to try and match the natural resin within the bark, but of course the casting resin couldn't get to the enclosed voids
Be careful not to sand too much, the softer portions really sand away quickly, leaving out of round/uneven surfacesNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
